Xylem

It is a picture of the word "up". Xylem is the material in plants that carries water and minerals up from the root. So, I use the word "up" to represent xylem.

Vascular Plant

It is a picture of fern in my apartment. Fern is an example of vascular plant. Vascular plant is a plant that is characterized  by the presence of conducting tissue.

Sporophyte

This is a picture of fern I took in my apartment. Fern is an example of sporophyte. Sporophyte is the asexual and usually diploid phase, producing spores from which the gametophyte arises.

Rhizome

It is a picture of ginger root I have at home. Ginger root is an example of rhizome. Rhizome is in botany, horizontal, underground plant stem capable of producing the shoot and root systems of a new plant.

Redox Reaction

It is a chemical equation. I created at home. It is redox reaction because of the electron transfer. Redox reaction any chemical reaction in which the oxidation number of a participating chemical species changes.

Radical Symmetry (Animal)

This is a sketch of a sunstar. I created it at home. Sun star is an example of radical symmetry (animal). Radical symmetry (animal) is the repetition of the parts in an animal in an orderly fashion.

Protein

This is a picture of soy milk I have at home. The advertisement claims this bottle soy milk contains 9% protein. Protein is a highly complicated substance that is present in all living organisms.

Pollen

This is a picture of a flower in my apartment. It produces pollen. Pollen is a mass of microspores in a seed plant appearing usually as a fine dust.

Phloem

It is a picture of the word "down". I created it at home. Phloem transports down sucrose to all parts of plant where needed. So, I use the word "down" to represent phloem.

Keystone Species

It is a sketch of an arch. I created it at home. Keystone species is important in a food web, as shown in the picture. Keystone species is a species that has a disproportionately large effect on the communities in which it occurs.

Hydrophobic

It is a sketch of the influence of hydrophobic material to water. I created it at home. The word "hydrophobic" means insoluble in water. So, hydrophobic material will repel water, as shown in the sketch.

Hydrophilic

It is a sketch of the influence of hydrophilic material to water. I created it at home. The word "hydrophilic" means soluble in water. So, hydrophilic material will attract water, as shown in the sketch.

Hermaphrodite

It is a sketch of the symbols of male and female. I created it at home. Hermaphrodite is the condition of having both male and female reproductive organs. So I created a male symbol and a female symbol together for it.

Gymnosperm

It is a picture of a pine tree in front of my apartment. Pine tree is an example of gymnosperm. Gymnosperm is any vascular plant that reproduces by means of an exposed seed, or ovule, as opposed to an angiosperm, or flowering plant, whose seeds are enclosed by mature ovaries, or fruits.

Glycogen

It is a picture of muscle I took at home. Muscle contains much glycogen. Glycogen is white, amorphous, tasteless polysaccharide (C6H10O5)n.

Enzyme

This is a schematic diagram showing the active site of an enzyme. I created it at home. Enzyme is a substance that acts as a catalyst in living organisms, regulating the rate at which chemical reactions proceed without itself being altered in the process.

Endosperm

This is a sketch of the cross section of a wheat kernel. I created it at home. Endosperm is the tissue that surround and nourishes the embryo in the angiosperm.

Cellulose

This is the chemical formula of cellulose. I created it at home. Cellulose is a complex carbonhydrate, or polysaccharide, consisting of 3,000 or more glucose units.

Cambium

It is a sketch of cross section of a stem. I created at home. Cambium is between the secondary xylem and secondary phloem.  Cambium is a layer of actively dividing cells between xylem and phloem tissues that is responsible for the secondary growth of stems and roots.

CAM Plant

This is a picture of cactus I took in Montana. Cactus is an example of CAM plant. CAM plant is plant that does crassulacean acid metabolism, which is a carbon fixation pathway that is developed as an adaptation to arid condition.

C4 Plant

This is cup of corn I have at home. Corn is an example of C4 plant. C4 plant is plant that does C4 carbon fixation, which is named for the 4-carbon molecule present in the first product of the carbon fixation.

C3 Plant

It's some rice I have at my home. Rice is an example of C3 plant. C3 plant is plant that does C3 carbon fixation, or a metabolic pathway of carbon fixation in photosynthesis.

Bilateral Symmetry

It is a sketch of leaf. I created myself at home. Leaf has an imperfect bilateral symmetry. Bilateral symmetry is the property of being divisible into symmetrical halves on either side of a unique plane.

Autotroph

It's a plant on the second floor at the apartment building I live in. All plants are autotrophs because they are primary producer. Autotroph is an organism that serves as a primary producer in a food chain.

ATP

It is a picture of the chemical formula of ATP, or adenosine triphosphate. I created it myself at home. I use it to represent ATP because it shows some basic properties of ATP. ATP is energy-carrying molecule found in the cells of all living things.
